Overview
We carry out, contribute to and promote research that improves the UK's understanding of overheating and climate adaptation. By working with researchers, government, industry and communities, we help develop the evidence needed to create cooler, healthier and more resilient places.
What we do
Research underpins everything we do. We collaborate on funded research projects, develop new methodologies, analyse data and share findings that help improve buildings, public spaces and communities.
Our role is to bridge the gap between research and practice, ensuring evidence is translated into practical knowledge that can inform policy, design and decision-making.
We are particularly interested in how overheating affects people, buildings and public spaces, and how interventions such as shade, nature, building adaptation and behavioural change can reduce heat-related risks.
Our approach
As temperatures continue to rise, the UK needs better evidence to support effective adaptation. By bringing together expertise from different disciplines and sharing lessons learned openly, we aim to improve understanding and encourage evidence-led action across the country.
